Forbes Shire is a safe and welcoming community. Forbes boasts a large calendar of events targeting youth and children, which include but is not limited to Youth Week, School Holiday Programs aimed at fostering inclusion and building positive relationships.

April School Holiday Program/Youth Week is below!
Family Fun Morning!
Join us for a morning of fun at Lions Park on Saturday 12 April from 9:00am-12:00pm. There will lots to do including jumping castles, face painting, arts and craft and the awesome pedal boats. This event is not to be missed. Please not a parent or guardian must accompany your children for this event. Registration is encouraged but not essential. We look forward to spending the morning with you all.

Wellness Workshop by Kitty
Join us for an exciting workshop by Kitty this is a fun workshop to have the opportunity to look at where you are and where you want to go. Through A guided relaxation, practical tools to get to where you want to go. Afternoon tea will be provided, please bring a long a towel, yoga mat and water bottle.

Painting Workshops by Karen Ritchie and Katie Ragg
Join talented artist Karen Richie and Katie Ragg to create a fantastic artwork. These artworks will then be submitted to the council art competition and gallery open day held on the 24th of April.
On Tuesday 15 April join Katie Ragg, where the theme will be 'If I could own any animal what it would be?’ This will include fantasy animals and dinosaurs. This is a fun way to learn how to draw animals and use your imagination to produce some interesting artworks.
On Thursday 17 April join Karen Ritchie, where the theme will be 'I can Paint a Portrait'. Have fun learning to paint a portrait of yourself and/or someone special. Includes drawing the face, adding tone and colour. Bring 2 photo references, one photo of yourself and another of a special person.
Morning and afternoon tea will be provided on both days.
Only 10 spots available in each session time so registration is essential.

Youth Fishing Morning
Join us for a fun-filled Youth Fishing morning at the beautiful Forbes Lake, Lions Park! This is a fun morning for children to unwind, relax and have some fun catching fish. There will be four lucky door prizes on the day. Please bring along a hat, fishing rod and morning tea. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, as Council Officers will not be responsible for their supervision during this event.

Youth First Aid
Calling Youth! Learn to Save Lives! Are you ready to make a difference? Join our Youth First Aid Course run by Tod Healey First Aid Training and equip yourself with the essential skills to help in emergencies! Please not there will be pre course work that will be emailed to you prior to the date of the course, this must be completed. Students must be the age of 14 to partake in this workshop. Registration is essential as there are only 12 spots available.

Learn to Skate Workshop with Totem Skate
Come along to Forbes Skatepark to attend the FREE Learn to Skate Workshop hosted by Totem skateboarding this workshop is fully funded by Forbes Shire Council. Learn to skate beginner class and Mentoring skate session.These workshopsare a Youth Week 2025 initiative for ages 12 to 24 years. Excursion to Putt Putt
Join us for a fun-filled excursion to Dubbo for mini golf! This event is a perfect to have some fun test out your mini golf skills and interact with other children in your region. This event is for youth aged 9-18 years due to staffing requirements. Please note registration is essential and this event will cost participants $20.00 per child. Gallery Open Day
Join us at the Forbes Town Hall for a special Youth Art Gallery Open Day, where young artists from our region will have their work showcased in a professional setting. This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the creativity and talent of our local youth. The gallery will be open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with light morning and afternoon tea provided. Come along, explore the incredible artworks, and support the next generation of artists in our community! Registration is encouraged but not essential.
