Workplacement and School based traineeships

Council is passionate about supporting our local and regional talent to learn new skills and be exposed to the many different operations of Council.  Each year, Council offers up to fifteen students (school, university or TAFE) the opportunity for short term work placements across all areas of Council. Whether it’s in the business support team, engineering technical or our outdoor operations, there are opportunities for you.

Work placement and Graduate rotations are generally between 1 week and 1 month and are discussed and agreed on at the application stage.  If you are a highly motivated student and would like to immerse yourself in the Council operation and learn practical, hands on skills to support your school, TAFE or University studies, please contact Council on people@forbes.nsw.gov.au or call Council and ask to speak with HR.

Council is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity and inclusion in our workplace. If there is anything we can do to ensure that you perform at your best in an interview process, please let us know.  We are pleased to be able to offer flexibility in how our interviews are conducted in terms of the location, methods of communication, timing and technology used.  Please let us know via return email or a discreet call to Councils HR team on the Council phone line.
